135. Policy Restaurant and Lounge DC
Welcome! Check out our featured DC area business Maids in Black, DC Cleaning Services.
What’s the most fun thing you did this summer?
The folks at Cosmopolitan Magazine left us with the classic, “Summer is kind of like the ultimate one-night stand: hot as hell, totally thrilling, and gone before you know it.”
Well as the cold months are now upon us we’ll be sharing a few more indoors experiences with you. Our most recent outing? Policy restaurant in DC.
Policy first hit our radar after winning the Hot 99.5 award for places to be seen and we thought it would be a fun new experience to keep the energy up as we say our long goodbyes to summer.
So, here are 5 ways Policy Restaurant and Lounge captured our imagination.
1) The Decor
Policy restaurant manages to pull off an upscale trendy feel that looks more like it was laid out by artists than your typical restaurant designer. A kind of edgy elegance that we dig.
2) The Sliders
If you’ve been around this blog for a while you’ll know that we are slider crazy over here. Not too many spots get our slider approval, but Policy does a Madras curry lamb slider that is just downright ridiculous! Nom nom nom.
3) The Blackened Diver Scallops
I word: Damn! Amazingly flavored scallops over sweet corn succotash and a few other herbs that I still don’t know what they were. And I still don’ t really care. These might have been my favorite of the small plates I tried. Absolutely loved it!
4) The Fried Scalloped Potatoes
This was a slightly different look for me since I typically go for small plates with meat or seafood, but the potato/lentil combination worked remarkably.
5) The Fish
There’s something about remarkably prepared fish that really makes my day. Perhaps it’s the fact that I grew up in a fishing town and have had wonderfully prepared fish in my early years. Well, the fish at Policy made me think my childhood was a lie. I think you’ll absolutely love it!
Bonus: The upstairs Lounge
The upstairs lounge gets a little crowded on some nights but that’s to be expected for any U Street spot that fields great drinks and a DJ that does it right. There might be a line on the way in, but you’ll have a blast!
Policy Restaurant was a remarkable addition to our list of fun experiences in DC and while we mostly did small plates this time around we’ll be back to check out their brunch next time. Word is, it’s pretty freaking awesome.
For more Policy Restaurant goodness, Follow them on Facebook and Twitter and make plans to check them out. Reservations or not, you’re in there!
Ahhh summer, we barely knew ye.
