Meet Tamara Rasberry from Rasberry Consulting

Posted at October 9, 2011 by 6 Comments

Welcome! Check out our featured DC area business Maids in Black, DC Cleaning Services.

Welcome to the first in our series of small business spotlights.  We got the idea to feature one amazing local Washington DC small business each month from our friend Kristi over at Live and love out loud (a blog you should check out by the way).

So starting this month, and each month going forward, we’ll be featuring a new DC area small business owner that inspires us.

First up, Tamara Rasberry from Rasberry Consulting, a new media company that does great work in the social media space.

Tell us a bit about yourself Tamara? How might our readers know you?

I am a native Washingtonian, single mother, accessory loving, mojito enjoying blogger and social media & image consultant.

Your readers might know me from the local social media event scene – I’m told I’m a social butterfly!

I’m on Twitter as @msrasberryinc and most people know me as ‘Ms. Rasberry’.

Additionally, they may be familiar with my non-business blog – The Rasberry Experience.

What do you enjoy most about blogging and/or sharing your passion?

I enjoy blogging because I can give my take on the things that interest me; primarily beauty, fashion, culture, and local events. On my professional site, I give my insight on issues related to social media and image consulting.  The best part of blogging to me is the interaction between me and the readers. I respond to all comments because I truly appreciate the time that people take to respond to something that I have said.  I like reading other points of view.

What are some of your favorite spots in DC/MD/VA to get your inspirational juices flowing?

I wish I had a favorite inspirational spot but I spend most of my time working at home unless I’m meeting with clients or networking. If any of your readers have recommendations for cool inspirational spots, I’d be glad to hear them.

What do you do for your day job

My job (day, night and in between) is as a brand management consultant and freelance writer. I help individuals (and businesses/nonprofits) develop consistent branding via their online presence. I also help people develop a personal style that aligns with how they wish their brand to be represented.   My motto is “YOU are your brand. Represent!” and I work to help others achieve this.

What do you think people like about your service so much? What makes it unique?

At the risk of sounding egotistical (which I definitely am not) I would say that what people like the most about my blog/business is ME – my voice/personality/writing style.   I keep it real with a touch of humor.   I very much enjoy helping people so I have no problem sharing information/advice above and beyond what’s requested.

Nowadays, social media managers abound.   Go to any networking event and probably 80% of the attendees will be somehow involved in social media.   My business is unique in that I am adept at more than social media- writing, marketing, makeup and wardrobe consultation- all of these skills help me to be more effective because I see the big branding picture, especially as it relates to entrepreneurs and small businesses.   Additionally, with over 10 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, I know the different issues they face when it comes to developing a social presence.

So what fun things are you working on these days?

I’m working on developing a series of workshops/seminars to present to small groups. I want to do more speaking engagements and have more opportunities to interact with people. FUN!!

Are there any emerging trends you’re seeing for your field?

I consider my fields to be dual: new media and image consulting. The “emerging trends” for each are quite different, but there is the common thread of personal branding and that’s where I focus. I hate to jump on a buzzword, but it is what it is.   I believe that people will continue to become aware of the importance of branding when it comes to their businesses and professional & personal identities.

Any fun, crazy, outrageous, or just plain cool thing about yourself that you would like to share with our readers?

Hmm… well, one cool thing about me is my jewelry collection.   I love huge earrings, statement necklaces and cocktail rings – the bigger the better!   When you see me, I’m sure to have on at least one of these items.

How can our readers contact you for Brand Consulting or Social Media work?

  3. Great to see this interview of Ms. Rasberry on D365! She is one amazing woman and knows her business. Small business owners and women business owners at times do not get enough promotion whether its because they don;t seek it or their community doesn’t take the time to give back socially. Fabulous to see this new series!

Congrats on your business Tamara and I know you will do some amazing work for your client projects. Brand it!
