Malcolm X Park Drum Circle

So a while ago I made a post about the awesomeness that is the Malcolm X Park.  You can catch it here: Meridian Hill park.

A while later I got this email:

“Name: Gionatan Tecle

Comments:
After reading your article about Malcolm X Park, i was inspired and made a video about the whole experience. Thank you so much for making this city so interesting with your useful resources.
Thanks,
Jonni.”

And what Jonni attached is one of the most moving videos I’ve seen.  This video seriously makes me happy to call this wonderful city home.  If you prefer to see this in full screen, (which I highly recommend) check out the Malcolm X Park Drum Circle video.

I have been going to that drum circle every Sunday for the past 12 years, i just picked up a drum and start playing I LOVE IT. I like the video but one question i have for you is why did you took out the real sound of the drums and replaced by some other music, I thought what makes the drum circle is the sound of the drums.Try to post the real one please.

    Hello G,
Thank you for the kind words. I do agree with you that the video should have had the original music. I am the videographer who made this video and i just wanted to capture the vibe and experience of Malcolm X Park. After having been taken there a few years back i felt compelled to make a video about the felling i got from the environment as a whole, not just the drum circle. I am super pleased that people have enjoyed this video because it truly expresses the felling i feel for that place.
    Blessa.

Much love and gratitude to the maker. I used to go to this drum circle over a year when I lived in DC and joined in with a drum a few times. It was where I regained my smile. The feeling was even stronger watching the video when I cried a whole lot on two occasions!
