4. Live Jazz at JOJO’s
Okay, so this experience was completely unplanned. This was going to be a review on Utopia, but to be honest we didn’t have a great time there. So we decided to head to our guaranteed-good-time spot, The Chi Cha Lounge to save the night. Unfortunately, Chi Cha was packed on Saturday night, so we walked back up U street.
Hey folks, stop by!
The bouncer at JOJO’s restaurant stopped us as we were walking by and convinced us to pop in for a few minutes. A live jazz band, no cover, and a chance to check out a new place…hmmm not much convincing was needed. The bouncer, Terry (we got his name on the way out) is an awesome guy by the way.
So what was it like?
We had a blast! There was live jazz downstairs but we got a table upstairs because downstairs was already full. Still cool, because we could hear the music yet still be able to carry on a conversation.
We didn’t try their food this time around because we had already eaten at Utopia. I got their voodoo drink, which is their signature coconut rum drink. I loved that! I have to say, I enjoyed this place thoroughly. It was laid back, had great live music, and the best vibe. What more could you ask for in a night out with a date or a friend? They have Live jazz, blues and soul seven days a week. Check them out and have a blast.
Cool Tip: Call ahead for a reservation before you go if you want to guarantee a table. If you decide to sit downstairs try to get a table near the back so you can hear the music but still be able to carry on a conversation. If you decide to sit upstairs (and it’s only two of you) ask about the table at the front of the room by the window.
Now go forth and live life to the max!
