17. Things to do in DC: Live Jazz @ Montpelier

Welcome! Check out our featured DC area business Maids in Black, DC Cleaning Services.

What would be a fun thing to do in DC today? I was tempted to blog about some trendy spot for valentine’s day today.  But alas I couldn’t do it.  I have a difficult time really getting into those swanky spots in the city.  Plus if you haven’t booked a reservation by now, it will be pretty tough to find a place that isn’t fully booked.

So instead I’ll let you in the a little secret: The Montpelier Arts Center and their Spring Jazz Series.

Montpelier has been around since the 1970’s but it’s still one of those spots that’s like a little diamond in the rough.  Here’s your chance to check out the Arts Center (they’re on the grounds of Montpelier Mansion in PG county).  In March, they will be hosting a 7 concert Jazz Festival.

The first concert of the Montpelier Spring Jazz Series will be held on Friday, March 4, 2011.

Highlights includes the Latin Grammy Award winning Afro-Cuban jazz.

If you’re in the city, you might balk at having to drive into PG county, (I know, it’ s not necessarily a fun thing to do in DC), but I promise it will be well worth the drive for a totally new experience.

You get to take in some jazz and also check out the art work at one of the three art galleries.
