168. 2Cellos

Welcome! Check out our featured DC area business Maids in Black, DC Cleaning Services.

I must say, I am pretty excited for this Friday! 2Cellos will be performing at the Warner Theater! They are a band that defies all the boundaries of music genres with energy that’ll move the whole audience. The duo has been touring their way across the United States and now they’re finally making a stop in DC!

Their style is a modern interpretation of classical music, a classical crossover if you will. Two cellists (hence the name), Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, will be joined by a drummer for a show that will change your perception of classical music.

They perform covers of some very well known songs as well as original pieces. The intensity of their show is incredible! My most accurate description would be controlled chaos on stage.

The cellists are both originally from Croatia where they first met and started their careers. They gained quick success by touring all of Europe which lead them to stirring up quite a buzz here on our home front. Their cover of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” became an instant YouTube sensation. Sir Elton John was one of the first to recognize their incomparable talent. After seeing them live he went on record stating: “…Go and see them live because it really is astonishing! I can’t remember seeing anything as exciting as them since I saw Jimi Hendrix live back in the 60’s…”

Elton John approves and as do I! You don’t want to miss this concert!

    • I have made this bread dozens of times and added many of the variations you mention — chives, cheese, olives, dill, etc. — all with great success. (I was even thinking about making a loaf today to make toasted tomato and cheese sandwiches — may still.) One thing I found though is that, since there are so few ingredients and it is so simple, you really need to sift the flour so as not to end up with a big biscuit.
