14. Pizza and Crazy Ping Pong @ Comets
Pizza, Beer, and ping pong? Does a place like this seriously exist in Washington DC? Yup! An If not for the iffy weather as I’m writing this, it would have been a perfect night for some Pizza and Ping Pong at Comets. Definitely keep them in mind the next time you’re looking for something fun to do in dc.
Straight off the bat I have to say that Comets is a strange, somewhat eclectic spot. In a good way though. It’s almost like the owners couldn’t decide if they wanted to open a pizza joint, a restaurant, a bar, or a ping pong club.
And then someone somewhere said,
“What the heck! Why can’t we have it all?”
For me, Comet gets an A+ for the look and feel of the place. The tables are made from the tops of ping pong tables, with cool wooden benches.
There is a nice bar area that separates that bridges the restaurant area and the ping pong area.
The pizza? Their offerings are very interesting. They have seasonal pizzas that they offer every few months, but the regular stuff is awesome in its own right because of their unique toppings: Butternut squash, clams, goat cheese, etc. It’s not your typical “large pepperoni” pizza joint.
If you have kids, it’s a family friendly spot. You can drop the kids off in the back to play ping pong while you steal a moment with your partner. Okay, who am I kidding? You’re probably just as likely to be in the back sweating our your beer over a vicious game of ping pong.
To wrap this up. I love the place. I prefer weekdays though, it gets a little crowded on the weekends.
Have a blast!
