114. Fashion’s Night Out Georgetown
It’s often said that DC is a place where fashion goes die. While the sea of button-downs, khaki shorts and sandals seen throughout the city suggests that this reputation might be deserved, there are those who are helping to promote DC fashion.
One event that is helping to change DC’s status as the anti-fashion capital of the country is Fashion’s Night Out Georgetown. Initially started in New York City in 2009 as a means to encourage consumers to shop and support the fashion industry, Fashion’s Night Out expanded in 2010 with events taking place in countries like Australia, Brazil and Korean.
This year’s Fashion’s Night Out event in Georgetown promises to be action-packed and diverse. From the Brightest Young Thing lounge at Dean & DeLuca to Fashion Jeopardy to the “Get Hitched in Georgetown” competition, Fashion’s Night Out Georgetown allows consumers to cut loose while enjoying the stylings of 100 merchants who will be keeping their stores open after hours.
DC as a fashion destination? Maybe not quiet yet, but Fashion’s Night Out Georgetown makes it more realistic that the city can be a bit more fashion forward.
